About the Provence day trip: Mont Ventoux hike - Challenging
About the guided day trip at the Mont Ventoux
Group rate for 4 persons ( contact us if less or more)
This Provence day trip is without a doubt the most spectacular hike in Provence -- at least in our books -- hiking the Mont Ventoux.
With your guide, you begin with gentle zigzags through the forest, and then above the tree-line on the bare rock: looking out towards the entire chain of the Alps, including Mont Blanc. You reach the summit of the Mont Ventoux where to the south the entire Rhône Valley is visible – and depending on visibility – the Mediterranean Sea is in view. We then loop back to Mont Serein via a set of imposing rockslide formations.
Please note : Though not dangerous, these otherworldly sections are not suitable for those who are subject to fear of heights
- Loop Walk - Mont Serein > Mont Ventoux > Mont Serein
. Short option : 5 hours - 13 km / 8 miles- Ascent: +650m/ Descent: -600m
. Long option : 7 hours - 22 km / 13.6 miles- Ascent: +650m/ Descent: -650m - You meet your guide in Mont Serein and start your hiking day
- Depending on our pace, we will be back in Mont Sereins and finished by 5 to 6 pm.
Highlights of the day trip
- Beautiful forest paths, on Ventoux's only slope without a road.
- Views of the entire chain of the Alps, including Mont Blanc
- Probable encounters with chamois (wild goats) along the way
- 1 picnic or restaurant lunch included
- Alpine and even Arctic flowers along the upper slopes of Ventoux
